About this tool

ESPHome is the firmware layer behind most of Home Assistant's ESP-based devices. This installer flashes the generic ESPHome-Web image: a fresh board that, once on your Wi-Fi, can be adopted into ESPHome/Home Assistant and given its real configuration over the air.

What gets installed

The ESPHome-Web factory image is a full-flash image written from the start of flash, over the Web Serial API in Chrome, Edge or Opera. After it boots, use the Improv-Serial Wi-Fi setup here to connect the board, then finish adoption from the ESPHome dashboard.

License

Frequently asked questions

Is this a full ESPHome configuration?

No — it flashes the generic ESPHome-Web bootstrap image. Once the board is on Wi-Fi you adopt it in the ESPHome dashboard and push your real configuration over the air.

Do I need Home Assistant?

ESPHome is most useful with Home Assistant, but the ESPHome dashboard can run on its own. Either way, adoption happens after this installer gets the board onto your network.
